Postal Code API

Terms and Conditions

Last updated: September 8, 2026

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ZipCodes platform (http://zipcodes.c9sd.com), operated by C9 STUDIO DESIGN, S.A. DE C.V. (RFC: CSD201216A82), Mexico City, Mexico (referred to as "C9SD", "we", or "us"). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. For how we handle your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

1. The service

ZipCodes provides API access to postal code data for the United States, Mexico, and Canada, along with a client dashboard, usage snippets, and API documentation. The service is provided on a subscription basis as described below.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your password and API token confidential and for all activity that happens under your account and token. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized use of your account or token.

3. Plans and subscriptions

We currently offer three monthly plans, billed automatically through Stripe until cancelled:

  • Starter ($10/month): 2 registered domains, 60 requests per minute, full US/Mexico/Canada coverage, email support.
  • Growth ($29/month): 5 registered domains, 180 requests per minute, full US/Mexico/Canada coverage, priority email support.
  • Business ($79/month): unlimited registered domains, 600 requests per minute, full US/Mexico/Canada coverage, priority support with SLA.

We may introduce, modify, or retire plans at any time; changes will not apply retroactively to a billing period you've already paid for.

4. Billing, cancellation, and refunds

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your billing portal (Manage billing); cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep access until then. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods.

If a payment fails, your account and API token are deactivated until the payment issue is resolved. You can update your payment method or resubscribe at any time from your billing portal.

5. Acceptable use

When using the API, you agree not to:

  • Exceed the request-rate or domain limits of your plan, or attempt to circumvent them.
  • Share your API token with anyone outside your organization, or use it across more domains than your plan allows.
  • Extract the postal code data in bulk to redistribute or resell it as a standalone dataset, separate from an application that uses the service.
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that could disable, overburden, or impair it.

We may suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate this section, with or without prior notice depending on severity.

6. Intellectual property and data source

The ZipCodes platform, including its code, design, and documentation, is owned by C9SD. The underlying postal code data is sourced from GeoNames.org, licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license, which we make available to you as part of the service subject to these Terms.

7. Service availability

We work to keep ZipCodes available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. We may perform maintenance, and data coverage or accuracy depends in part on our upstream source (GeoNames).

8. Limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, C9SD will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, and our total liability for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the service and cancel your subscription at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, non-payment, or misuse of the service.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be published on this same page, indicating the date of the last update. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mexico. Any dispute will be subject to the courts of Mexico City, Mexico, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
